POSITION SUMMARY

Substitute teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.  They are responsible for implementing substitute plans as written by the teacher.

 

SPHERE AND SCOPE OF INFLUENCE

Substitute teachers are responsible for supervising students,implementation of the District curriculum and assessment plan, and utilizing resources accordingly.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

  1. Provide instruction that cognitively engages all students, increases critical thinking and problem solving skills, and assess learning to guide instruction. This instruction should be in accordance with the provided substitute plans.
  2. Build and maintains secure relationships with students as well as maintaining professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and patrons.
  3. Maintain accurate records in accordance with timelines including individual student records, classroom records, content area reports, grade level reports, and building/department records.  These records should be consistent with provided substitute plans and building requirements.
  4. Other duties as directed by the supervisor    

OTHER DUTIES 

  1.   Additional duties necessary to supervise students, monitor events, or assist in an emergency situation.

Supervise students at all times and/or as directed by supervisor

Supervise events as described above and/or directed by supervisor

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Minimum educational requirements, licenses, skills and experience required as well as preferred options)

The candidate should be able to move in and around the classroom, building, District buildings, and campus locations.  Consistent attendance as well as general functioning in a school setting.

The candidate should have the ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate clearly both orally and in writing, utilize District resources including District issued technology and programs required to fulfill the essential job duties.
