Gasconade County R-1 School District is seeking a full-time Mechanic/Groundskeeper to join our team. This position offers full benefits, including a strong retirement plan. The candidate should have general mechanical skills, ability to learn quickly and the flexibility to perform a variety of tasks.
Perform grounds keeping duties including but not limited to mowing lawns, trimming weeds, and removing leaves at all facilities.
- Complete snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways when needed during winter months.
- Perform routine maintenance on power equipment.
- Assist in light and routine maintenance on the school district bus fleet.
- Examine school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance.
- Demonstrate skills in basic construction, electrical, and plumbing diagnosis and repair.
- Monitor facilities for potential safety hazards.
- Maintain facility cleanliness inside and outside at all times.
- Has the ability to get along with others and use good judgment.
- Complete appropriate records/paperwork.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Has the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with staff and others.
- Present a neat/clean appearance at all times.
- Work in adverse weather conditions.
- Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Manage time and handle multiple essential tasks and responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by superiors.
Skills/Education:
- Trained in, or the ability to acquire knowledge concerning operating, maintaining, and/or repairing school busses.
- Strong mechanical interest and ability, previous work experience in this area preferred.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
